This little cafe, in the midst of Hudson Lane is one of the busiest cafés in the city. Being raved about the food, ambiance and its interiors and exteriors, it started a new trend in the city for places with such basic names. Also it is a great competitor since Hudson Lane is flooding with such cafés.
As the name says “Big Yellow Door” it actually does have an angled yellow door. Also, since it’s located in the Delhi University area, the students find this place the perfect escape from the monotonous college lectures and an affordable one to treat their tastebuds.
The ambiance is pretty normal as such. The interiors are wooden and very subtle. No such hi-fi designing is done as no one would really care about it once they have tasted the food. Also the service it good too. The servers are attentive and prompt.
Their menu is a typical café menu but the best part is that Indian flavours are infused in the continental dishes. From pizzas to pastas to burgers, they have pretty much everything on the Menu. And one doesn’t have to dig a hole in their pocket to enjoy whatever this place has to offer.
Their baked nachos are raved about but ordering that would be too mainstream. Wouldn’t it? So instead start by ordering some refreshing beverages as the waiting could be tiresome. Like Virgin Mojito and Green Apple Mojito. These are one of their best beverages as one can’t just make the perfect Mojito. With a hint of Green apple and the refreshing mint, hands down one of the best mojitos ever tasted.
Coming on to the food, their Butter Chicken Pizza will brighten up the mood of every chicken fanatic. It has the perfect blend of spices and flavors. Also the Makhni pasta is a must try. But it would be bad to order them both together as they have pretty much the same taste, just the difference is of pasta and pizza.
Also their huge variety of burgers is one to try. They have a very specific way of dressing the burgers with mayo, by writing BYD with the mayo on the burger. That’s something creative. The Cheese Bomb Burger is a tasteful one and flavoursome. It is served with a masala dip and potato chips.
Overall it totally qualifies as a hangout place for collegiate. Easy on pocket and great on taste.
